2022 ESNR-ASPNR JOINT PEDIATRIC NEURORADIOLOGY SESSION
45TH ANNUAL EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF NEURORADIOLOGY (ESNR) MEETING
SEPTEMBER 14-18, 2022, LISBON, PORTUGAL – RECAP

The ESNR-ASPNR Joint Pediatric Neuroradiology Session recently took place at ESNR’s 2022 Annual Meeting in the beautiful historic city of Lisbon, Portugal – and it was a big success!

Conference-goers convened in the Lisbon Congress Center along Lisbon’s sunny Tagus’ River shorefront, in full view of the iconic Tagus River Bridge. Neuroradiologists from around the world gathered in-person and for 3.5 days of dedicated neuroradiology programming.

This year, the joint ESNR-ASPNR Pediatric Neuroradiology Session was dedicated to Pediatric Vascular Disease. The ASPNR was proudly represented by Dr. Manu Shroff of Sick Kids, Toronto, Canada, who kicked off the session on the topic of Pediatric Ischemic Stroke and ASPNR President Dr. V. Michelle Silvera, from the Mayo Clinic, MN, who spoke on Spinal Cord Stroke in Children.

Our European counterparts representing the ESNR were Dr. Nadine Girard from CHU Timone, Marseille, France, who lectured on Neonatal Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke and Dr. Kshitij Mankad from Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK, who spoke on Stroke Mimics in Children.

Our ASPNR moderator was our Vice-President, Dr. David Mirsky, from Children’s Hospital Colorado, who co-moderated the session with Dr. Chen Hoffman, from Sheba Medical Center, Israel, who serves as ESNR’s Pediatric Neuroradiology Subspeciality Committee Chair.

In addition, Dr. Charles Raybaud, formerly of the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada, now retired, was honored with an ESNR Honorary Member Award.

We congratulate Dr. Pedro Vilela, ESNR22 Program Chair, Dr. Pia Sundgren, ESNR President, and the ESNR22 Program Committee on a wonderful meeting!

The ASPNR-ESNR collaboration is a longstanding and valued partnership between the transatlantic neuroradiology societies. The opportunity to share pediatric neuroradiology expertise across borders links the two societies and continents in ways that promote transfer of knowledge, enhance professional relationships and collaborations, and ultimately elevate the care of children with CNS conditions everywhere.
