Dr Tina Young Poussaint has been appointed as the Radiologist-in-Chief at Boston Children’s Hospital!
Professor Dr. Tina Young Poussaint is a globally recognized pioneer in the field of pediatric neuroradiology. Her extensive contributions have garnered international acclaim, positioning her as a distinguished authority in pediatric neuroradiology. Notably, she has served as the Principal Investigator and Director within the Neuroimaging Center of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium, a notable initiative funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Her influential presence extends to leadership within the wider medical community. Dr. Poussaint has held the esteemed position of Chair of the Institutional Review Board at Boston Childrens Hospital (BCH) since 2013, underscoring her commitment to ethical oversight and research integrity. Her dedication to fostering the next generation of medical professionals is evidenced by her directorship of the Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship at BCH for more than two decades. Dr. Poussaint also served as the Director of BCH Neuro-Oncologic Imaging, playing a central role in advancing the institution’s expertise in this domain.
Dr. Poussaint's involvement transcends individual institutions, encompassing the broader medical landscape. She has previously held the role of Vice-Chair on the Harvard Medical School (HMS) Faculty Council, a testament to her engagement in academic governance. Her engagement further extends to a number of hospital and medical school committees, reflecting her unwavering dedication to the advancement of the imaging sciences.
Among her significant accomplishments, Dr. Poussaint has assumed a number of key leadership roles within prestigious professional societies. She has presided over both the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology (ASPNR) in 2010-11 and the American Society of Neuroradiology in 2021-22, showcasing her influence in shaping the trajectories of these organizations. Notably, Dr. Poussaint was honored with the Gold Medal Award by the ASPNR in 2017, a distinction bestowed upon her in recognition of her unparalleled contributions to our field.
Dr. Poussaint's exceptional accomplishments were recently recognized through her appointment to the Lionel W. Young Endowed Chair in Radiology, a recognition of her enduring impact and legacy in radiology.
