2016 ASPNR GOLD MEDAL AWARD

Dr. Tortori-Donati from G. Gaslini Children’s Hospital in Genova, Italy is the 2016 ASPNR Gold Medal Award Recipient. This award acknowledges those who have made extraordinary contributions to enhance the development and/or stature of Pediatric Neuroradiology, including service to the Society.

Paolo Tortori-Donati, M.D., is the Father of Pediatric Neuroradiology in Italy. As the founder and first head of the Department of Pediatric Neuroradiology at the G. Gaslini Children’s Research Hospital in Genoa, he created a first-of-its-kind clinical and research environment dedicated to the neuroimaging of children in Italy. In addition to the outstanding, two volume Pediatric Neuroradiology textbook he authored and his numerous scientific contributions to Italian Neuroradiology, Dr Tortori-Donati was Chair of the European Society of Magnetic Resonance in Neuropediatrics, the European Society of Paediatric Radiology, and the European Society of Neuroradiology.

Dr Tortori-Donati’s dedication to Pediatric Neuroradiology encompasses the spirit of the ASPNR’s Gold Medal Award, intended to foster the highest standards of the ASPNR, recognizing exceptional service and achievement, and honoring individuals who are superb pediatric neuroradiologists as well as truly outstanding people.
