2017 ASPNR RESEARCH AWARD

This year, the annual American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology grant for pediatric neuroradiology research was awarded to Dr. Kristen Yeom, for her application titled “Radiogenomic Approaches to Non-Invasive Molecular Subtyping of Pediatric Posterior Fossa Ependymomas“. Her grant application was selected after review of multiple applications by the ASNPR research committee.

In this study, they propose to develop radiogenomic strategies for pediatric ependymoma groups A and B, linking MRI data with underlying genomic and epigenomic data, in order to extract key MRI features specific to underlying tumor genomics. Two cohorts at Stanford and Hospital for Sick Children will be recruited for feature determination and validation. Collaborators include faculty from bioinformatics, engineering, and pediatric neuro-oncology.

Dr. Yeom graduated from the University of Michigan and did her radiology residency at UCLA, followed by fellowship at Stanford. She is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Stanford University and a pediatric neuroradiologist at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, CA.
