Gold Medal Award
THE ASPNR GOLD MEDAL AWARD
PURPOSE
The Gold Medal Award is the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology’s (ASPNR’s) highest honor. It is bestowed upon distinguished individuals in recognition of extraordinary, notable, and prestigious achievements and contributions in the field of pediatric neuroradiology. Professional contributions may include research, clinical care, teaching and mentorship, and service.
CANDIDACY CRITERIA AND ELIGIBILITY
Eligible candidates are physician radiologists who have significantly contributed to pediatric neuroimaging. Candidates are not required to be ASPNR members and may be from any country. Nominees should have made extraordinary contributions to the development and stature of pediatric neuroradiology, including service to the ASPNR and its membership.
EXCLUSIONS
The following radiologists are ineligible for nomination:
- Current Directors of the ASPNR Board
- Members of the Gold Medal Award Committee
- Any Board Director within 3 years of having served on the ASPNR Board of Directors
- Any faculty member in the department of the Gold Medal Award Committee Chairperson
- Any person who has previously received the ASPNR’s Gold Medal Award
The Gold Medal will not be awarded posthumously, except in cases where the nominee passes away between their selection as a Gold Medalist and the annual meeting at which the Gold Medal is scheduled to be presented.
NOMINATION PROCESS
Only ASPNR Members or Associate Members in good standing may submit nominations.
BACKGROUND
The ASPNR’s first Gold Medal Award was presented in 2006. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2004, the ASPNR awarded a Special Recognition Award. In 2005, the Special Recognition Award was replaced by the Gold Medal Award. The following is a list of previous recipients of ASPNR's Gold Medal and Special Recognition Awards.
